Katie Roberts, DVM
Owner
Dr. Katie grew up in the Sacramento area of California. Over the years, she found her calling. She would volunteer to clean the fish after her family’s fishing trips, oftentimes being the only one around when she was trying to identify their anatomical parts. She also had guinea pigs, hamsters, and rats growing up, much to her mother’s chagrin. With the support of her parents, she pursued her love of science, animals, and anatomy in high school and then majored in zoology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She moved across the country with her husband, Jason, to pursue her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Virginia Tech.
After graduating from Virginia Tech, she moved back to Northern Nevada to be closer to family. She worked at Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital for six years before ultimately finding LMVH, the perfect place for her. Dr. Katie has filled her home with both two- and four-legged family members: her husband, Jason; two daughters, Maddie and Lottie; three dogs; two guinea pigs; and the desert tortoise.

What do you enjoy most about working at LMVH?
I love educating clients. I have learned so much throughout my schooling and career that is helpful to the health and well-being of our beloved pets. I am passionate about helping people provide the best care they can. They can do this by being educated about the diseases and afflictions most common in our pets. I enjoy surgeries. Some of my favorites include spays and neuters on the young shelter animals (less than four months); stomach and intestinal foreign bodies; and wound repairs. I believe in preventive medicine. If I can provide food, medication, and baseline lab work that will help us keep your pet healthier longer or discover diseases earlier to slow them down, this is a win for all of us!
What are your personal interests and achievements?
I am an avid reader. My favorite author has been Stephen King since I first read Carrie in sixth grade and was hooked. His descriptions and character development are unlike any other. I enjoy gardening, which has a whole new meaning in our current home. The rabbits are voracious, as well as the squirrels. It is a constant battle to get things to grow to bloom. They do keep our lawn mowed like a golf green! I like to cross-stitch, although I don’t find much time for this. I have an elephant project that I have literally been working on since vet school. Maybe I will get to it one of these days.
What is your favorite Northern Nevada activity?
The Nevada Day Parade has become a fun tradition for my family. We gather with some great friends to celebrate. The girls really look forward to this time with their friends, but I’m sure Lottie goes mainly for the donuts!
What do you love about Northern Nevada/Carson City?
I love the views in Northern Nevada. I love the wildlife all around. I really enjoy the weather with one huge exception: the wind. Ugh!

Jason Roberts, DVM
Owner
Before joining the veterinary world, Jason spent over 20 years in the golf industry, including 15 years as a golf course superintendent. He’s also got some fun stories up his sleeve—having once valeted cars and cleaned golf clubs for celebrities like Adam Sandler, Toby Keith, Cheryl Ladd, Michael Jordan, and Charles Barkley.
Jason and Dr. Katie have two daughters and a busy household full of pets, including two dogs (Stryder and Ronan), guinea pigs, and an axolotl. He has a special affection for mutts, Boxers, and Dobermans, and loves being part of a team that treats every animal like family.
When he’s not at the clinic, Jason enjoys golfing and taking naps—ideally somewhere warm and sandy. His transition from golf courses to caring for four-legged companions may seem unexpected, but for Jason, it’s been the most rewarding round yet.

Dr. Julija Hromcenko, VGAL
Veterinarian
Dr. Julia is passionate about providing compassionate, thorough care for every patient, treating each animal as if they were her own. She has a particular soft spot for Chihuahuas but loves caring for pets of all shapes and sizes.
When she’s not in the clinic, Dr. Julia enjoys shopping and spending time with her friends and family.

Kristin
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Rocket enthusiast. Warden. Dog wrangler. Mother of Ezra (the human, not a feral animal—though sometimes it’s hard to tell).
Kristin joined LMVH in October 2015, but her connection with the clinic started long before that – back when she worked for the state and brought in every lost dog she could find. The kindness and care she witnessed made one thing clear: when it came time to make the leap into vet med, LMVH was her forever home.
These days, she brings her passion to every corner of the hospital—whether she’s mentoring the next generation of vet professionals, guiding her “teacup Great Dane” Hondo through classes, or trying (emphasis on trying) to get Ezra, her delightfully chaotic child, to do literally anything that’s asked of him.
Her household also includes Hobbs the land shark, Ollie the whippet, and Ophelia the jumping spider. She’s a runner, a fan of high-powered rocketry, and Whippet lover.
Favorite cat? The spicy orange chaos goblins. Favorite animal overall? Rats. (Yes, really.)
Also: if there’s ever a trivia question about Fantastic Mr. Fox, you want Kristin on your team. Basically, if it’s smart, fast, or slightly unhinged, Kristin probably loves it.

What do you enjoy most about working at LMVH?
I enjoy the Fear Free approach we use in our daily practices. Removing the stress out of routine procedures makes the whole experience better. I also love seeing animals interact with their humans. The human-animal bond is so important. I really enjoy working with exotic pets as well. I’d like to get a specialty in exotics eventually.
What are your personal interests and achievements?,
I completed my first marathon in March 2018 in Napa Valley. One day I’d like to run an ultramarathon. I enjoy giving back to the community, and I’ve shaved my head twice for the St. Baldricks Foundation. My greatest accomplishment so far is my contribution to raising my son to be the sweet, ambitious, and awesome little man he is today.
What is your favorite Northern Nevada activity or festival?
I love going to Hot August Nights to look at all the cool cars. I am currently fixing up an ’86 Subaru BRAT in my free time.

Sarah, MA Ed., CPDT-KA, CSAT
Animal Behavior Consultant/Veterinary Assistant
Animal Trainer. Rescue Minion. World Traveler. Occasional Sleeper.
With a Master’s degree in Education and certifications in multiple states, Sarah spent 17 years teaching children ages 3 to 12 on the Autism spectrum. But her other lifelong passion—training animals—has been going strong for over 20 years. She brings the same patience, insight, and dedication to her work with animals (and their humans) every single day. Sarah brings a unique blend of educational insight and behavior expertise to every pet she works with.
Sarah joined LMVH in July 2022 and found her perfect fit in a clinic that truly values her experience and empowers her to help clients in meaningful ways. She’s a passionate advocate for continued learning—both for herself and for everyone around h
When she’s not helping clients at LMVH, she’s running Dogz Training, wrangling rescue cases through her nonprofit Boxers and Buddies, or attempting to maintain order at home among her personal zoo. That includes:
– Grimm, the effortlessly cool Great Dane
– Ichabod, the blind-and-deaf couch anchor with strong “grumpy grandpa” energy
– Rufio, the tiny terrorist in a mohawk
– Bam, the semi-feral chaos goblin and couch destroyer with leather jacket energy
– plus a rotating cast of snakes, lizards, spiders, and whatever else she forgot was in the reptile room.
In her mythical “free time” (read: occasional moments between crises), Sarah lives to travel and has checked off all seven continents—proving she can handle anything from penguin colonies in Antarctica to street dogs in Bangkok.

Kaydence
Veterinary Assistant
Kaydence joined LMVH on July 22nd, bringing with her four years of boarding experience and a lifelong love of animals. She was drawn to LMVH for the compassion, the teamwork, and the family vibe—and now she’s here for good (or until her three cats and her Frenchie unionize).
Her ultimate goal is to become a veterinary technician, and although she insists she’s “not interesting,” Kaydence has a soft spot for horror movies (Scream, obvi), a chaotic little Frenchie, and the ability to make every pet feel right at home.
We don’t think she’s boring at all—unless you count being kind, funny, and hardworking as boring. In that case… she’s the most boring.

Debbie
Front Desk
Debbie has been part of the LMVH family for almost two years, bringing her signature warmth, humor, and heart to the front desk every day. She came to the clinic looking for more fulfilling work—and found it in helping pets and their people feel truly cared for.
At home, Debbie shares her life with two beloved dogs, Mickalous Roo and Autry Loo. Though she has a lifelong soft spot for Basset Hounds (she’s had three!), she’ll be the first to tell you that mutts are where it’s at.
Debbie is also known for her unique singing talent—she’ll belt out a single line from a song (just one), completely off-key… and with zero shame. It’s part of her charm, and honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Dianna
Front Desk
Dianna brought over 20 years of veterinary experience with her when she joined LMVH on August 1, 2022—and it shows. Her passion for animals, dedication to their care, and deep knowledge of the field make her an essential part of the team.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cal Poly Pomona in Animal Industries and Business Management, blending her love for animals with a strong foundation in leadership and client support. Whether she’s assisting in appointments or connecting with pet owners, Dianna brings kindness, expertise, and a steady hand.
At home, Dianna is a proud pet parent to Mitey the Greyhound, Lewey the Maine Coon mix, and Nala the Shepherd mix. Her favorite dog breed? Greyhounds, of course—but she’s also got a soft spot for torties and calicos.
When she’s not at work, you’ll likely find her enjoying the simple things—like quality time with her husband or watching her favorite movie, Mystic Pizza.

Austin
Hospital Orderly/Boarding Staff
Austin joined LMVH in December and hit the ground running. With a natural love for animals and a curiosity to learn everything he can, he’s quickly become a valuable part of the team. Whether he’s assisting with patients or soaking up new knowledge, Austin brings enthusiasm and a calm, caring energy to every shift.
At home, he’s got a trio of cats—Maw, Stubs, and Hotshot—each with their own big personalities. He’s also got a soft spot for Golden Retrievers and classic tabby cats.
When he’s not at the clinic, Austin enjoys watching his favorite movies, which range from How to Lose a Guy in 10 Daysto Mid90s—because sometimes you’re in the mood for rom-coms, and other times, it’s skateboards and nostalgia. His favorite color? Purple.

Britney
Boarding Staff
What Britney loves most about her work is the chance to bond with both pets and their people. She has a soft spot for Labrador Retrievers and Siamese cats, and she’s always excited to meet new animals and get to know their unique personalities.
When she’s not caring for animals, Britney enjoys winding down with diamond art, watching Pride and Prejudice or Empire Records, and expressing her creativity through crochet and embroidery.

Ashly
Groomer
Ashly has been part of the LMVH family since 2005, starting out in boarding before discovering her passion for grooming. After taking a brief detour to train in her new craft, she returned in 2009 and has been keeping pets looking their best ever since.
At home, Ashly is surrounded by a lively and eclectic animal crew that includes four cats, four chickens, a sulcata tortoise, a leopard gecko, nine fish, and a rabbit snail—because why stop at just cats and dogs?
Her favorite color is green, and while she swears there’s “nothing interesting or unusual” about her, we think anyone who shares their home with that many species is pretty unforgettable.

Tell us a story about one specific animal or event related to animals that inspired you.
I adopted my best friend, Hayden, from LMVH when I was 19 years old. She was only 10 days old. Someone came in with a yellow plastic basket full of puppies wanting to get rid of them. I can remember Margie saying, “If you take a puppy, you’re responsible for it. Don’t expect to bring her back if you can’t handle it.” Hayden is now 13 and has been by my side through some tough times.
What do you enjoy most about working at LMVH?
I enjoy making dogs look their best. Grooming is hard work, but to have a dog come in looking homeless and making them feel better by getting the matts and dead hair off is rewarding.
What are your personal interests?
My hobbies are anything to do with art. My aunt got me interested when I was young. I’ve sold some pieces and done some murals. I really enjoy seeing people wear jewelry I’ve made.
What do you love about Northern Nevada?
I love being able to see the wild horses. The other day there were two in my neighbor’s yard. They are so beautiful.
Exceptional care for the pets of Carson City.
At Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital, we strive to provide the best care possible to each and every patient. Our team is fun and compassionate. We are experts in our fields. We're here to help when you need us most!
